Accreditation

On December 12, 2016, John King Jr., the United States Secretary of Education, finalized the process of revoking the U.S. Department of Education's recognition of (ACICS) as an accreditor.

The United States Department of Education no longer recognizes (ACICS) as an authorized accrediting agency as of December 12, 2016. However, Florida Technical College is approved to receive Title IV funding under a provisional Program Participation Agreement (PPA) for 18 months beginning December 12, 2016 while it is seeking a new federally recognized accreditor.

Florida Technical College is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Although (ACICS) is no longer a federally recognized accrediting agency, the United States Department of Education granted FTC provisional certification- for continued participation in the federal student aid programs for up to 18 months from the date of their final decision, which ends in June 2018. This 18-month provisional certification period allows institutions to seek accreditation from another federally recognized accrediting agency. If FTC does not obtain such accreditation within the 18-month period, FTC will no longer be eligible to receive funds under Title IV, HEA programs.
