Independence University (IU), formerly known as California College for Health Sciences, is an online non-profit university headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. Independence University is the online branch of Stevens-Henager College and is a member of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education.

History
In 1978, IU began to offer education at a distance and operated as California College for Health Sciences. In 2005 it became Independence University. In 2010, Independence University merged with its affiliated institution, Stevens-Henager College, becoming a branch of Stevens-Henager's main campus in Ogden /West Haven, Utah.
Today, IU is composed of four schools: the School of Healthcare, the School of Business, the School of Technology, and the School of Graphic Arts.
