Academics

The college's baccalaureate program consists of four requirements that take students outside the classroom: a service learning project, a professional internship, an international experience, and a senior capstone presentation. Each student completes the same multidisciplinary core of courses, and then electives can be taken that will allow each student to gain knowledge and experience in areas of choice. Students have a major advisor, and those pursuing optional academic concentrations have a co-advisor. Students may take courses at any of the local universities participating in the Northern Indiana Consortium for Education (NICE).

Current accreditation at the Baccalaureate level includes nine Bachelor of Arts degrees: Liberal Studies, Business, Theology, Visual Arts, Communications, English, Psychology, History, and Education with dual licensure in Elementary Education and English as a New Language (ENL). The college also offers 13 minors: Visual Arts (Studio, Art History, or Graphic Design), English, Communications, History, Psychology, Business, Liberal Studies, Education, Theology, Political Science, Spanish, Gerontology, Global Perspectives, and Sociology. By combining a major and minor with independent study, students are encouraged to customize their Bachelor of Arts degree to fit their career objectives. An Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies is also available.

The history program is positively reviewed by the National Association of Scholars.

According to Holy Cross College's results in the 2010 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), the college's senior scores are 10 to 20 points above the national averages in four out of the five NSSE benchmark measures of student engagement. In three out of five categories, Holy Cross ranks significantly higher than the top 10% nationally. The NSSE survey measures key practices associated with student learning, persistence, and graduation.

Holy Cross College was named as college of distinction for the years 2012-2013.
