History

The school was founded as the non-profit Arizona Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT) in 1979. Accredited in 1982, it became a Junior College in 1991 and a Senior College in 2001. It was renamed the International Institute of Americas (IIA) in 2002. In 2007, it was purchased by the Hamilton White Group IIA and given its current title in 2009. In 2010 and 2011 it was authorized to grant bachelor's degrees and master's degrees.

Brookline College's Phoenix, Tucson, Tempe and Albuquerque campuses are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award diplomas, associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees and master's degrees. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools was formerly a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Brookline College is licensed in Arizona by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education; in New Mexico by the New Mexico Higher Education Department; and in Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools.

Brookline College is registered with the Maryland Higher Education Commission to offer distance education programs in the state of Maryland.

Brookline College is recognized by the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (NPEC) of Georgia to provide on-line, distance, or correspondence education to Georgia residents.

The Brookline College - Albuquerque baccalaureate nursing programs have been granted Candidacy status by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Candidacy status does not guarantee that this program will achieve full accreditation, which is graded by the Commission after a full accreditation review including a visit by a team of trained site visitors.
